1. About this site

The Dictionary of Color Combinations (colorcombinations.org) is a free color reference resource. By accessing or using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. Content and ownership

The 348 Wada plates are derived from the MIT-licensed dataset dictionary-of-colour-combinations by Matt DesLauriers. That dataset is © MIT. Our transformation, metadata, and descriptions built on top of that data are © The Dictionary of Color Combinations.

Traditional Japanese color names (shikisai) are centuries-old public domain cultural knowledge. Color names are not trademarkable.

3. Permitted use

You are welcome to use palette hex values, color names, and export formats (CSS variables, Tailwind config, JSON) in your personal and commercial design work. This is the intended purpose of the site — no credit required, though appreciated.

You may not: reproduce or republish the site's written content, editorial descriptions, or design in bulk; scrape the site programmatically in ways that create significant server load; or represent the content as your own.

4. Affiliate links and advertising

This site contains affiliate links (Bookshop.org, Amazon Associates) and may display third-party advertising (Google AdSense). Clicking affiliate links may result in a small commission for us at no additional cost to you. Advertising is clearly labelled.

5. Accuracy

We strive for accuracy in color data, names, and historical references. However, the site is provided "as is" without warranty. Color rendering varies across devices, operating systems, and display calibrations. We are not liable for design decisions made on the basis of information on this site.

This site uses third-party services including Google AdSense, Plausible Analytics, Google Fonts, and Cloudflare Pages. Your use of this site is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
