Navy Blue Color Palettes

The deep blue of indigo-dyed cloth and night harbors.

Navy blue — the blue that anchors uniforms, flags, and fine tailoring — has its Japanese analog in 'kon' (紺), the deep indigo blue developed through multiple dye baths on natural cloth. Wada pairs it with ivory ('kinari'), cream, warm grey, and pale silver to create combinations that feel institutional without coldness, and classic without being stiff. These palettes work at scale — on signage, in web applications, in brand identities that need to convey reliability and depth over decades, not just for a season.
