The 2027 Colors of the Year
The 2027 season opened on 5 August 2026 and closes with Pantone in December. 9 have been named so far, mostly soft greens and blues. Here is every pick to date, what each brand actually said, and who is still to come.
This page is updated as the season runs. Every colour below is the authority's own name, code and description. Nothing here is a prediction — if a brand has not announced, it is listed under still to come rather than guessed at.
-
Valspar · announced 5 August 2026
Cottage Door 8004-38E
Grayed mid-tone blue
A mid-tone neutral blue blending warm and cool undertones — Valspar frames it as soothing familiarity and comfortable respite, a trans-seasonal colour for thoughtful, introspective spaces.
Swatch shows Blue #3E6FA3 — the closest colour in this archive, not Valspar's paint. No hex has been published for Cottage Door yet.
-
Dutch Boy · announced 25 August 2026
Deep Rooted
Earthy orange
An earthy orange — a genuinely rare choice for a Color of the Year — presented as a move toward grounding, authenticity and connection rather than the neutrals that dominated 2026.
Swatch shows Terracotta #C66B3D — the closest colour in this archive, not Dutch Boy's paint. No hex has been published for Deep Rooted yet.
-
Behr · announced late August 2026
Grounded T27-01
Mossy olive with brown undertones
A mossy olive with earthy brown undertones under the theme “Rooted in Renewal” — Behr describes it as transforming everyday spaces into personal sanctuaries. Reads greyer in practice than “mossy olive” suggests.
Swatch shows Olive Green #708238 — the closest colour in this archive, not Behr's paint. A hex of #5E5C50 has been reported for Grounded; treat it as an approximation, since paint does not map to one exact sRGB value.
-
Graham & Brown · announced early September 2026
Rose Earth
Warm dusty pink with clay undertones
A warm, grounded pink with soft clay and muted brown undertones, inspired by natural mineral pigments — Graham & Brown frames it as a wish for homes that feel reassuring and connected to the natural world.
Swatch shows Cameo Pink #E0B3B6 — the closest colour in this archive, not Graham & Brown's paint. No hex has been published for Rose Earth yet.

-
Dulux · announced 8 September 2026
Soulful Sage
Soft, silvery grey-green
A soft, radiant green that Dulux presents as a calm, nature-linked answer to information overload — a flexible foundation for warmer or cooler schemes.
Swatch shows Pistachio Green #648F7B — the closest colour in this archive, not Dulux's paint. No hex has been published for Soulful Sage yet.
-
Glidden · announced mid-September 2026
Artifact PPG10-16
Calm, smoky aqua blue
Glidden calls it a calm, fresh aqua that feels like a reset for the whole space — a livable mid-tone meant to refresh a room rather than renovate it. Press coverage reads it as a smoky blue.
Swatch shows Artemesia Green #709390 — the closest colour in this archive, not Glidden's paint. No hex has been published for Artifact yet.
-
Sherwin-Williams · announced 15 September 2026
Celery SW 6421
Soft, muted green with yellow undertones
Named jointly with HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams: a soft, muted green with subtle yellow undertones, meant to bring a light and airy presence to interiors. It is drawn from the brand's Rewild forecast.
Swatch shows Cobalt Green #96D1AA — the closest colour in this archive, not Sherwin-Williams's paint. No hex has been published for Celery yet.

-
PPG · announced 29 September 2026
Country Soil PPG15-30
Warm beige-taupe-grey
PPG describes it as a warm, saturated hue that blends beige, taupe and gray, drawn from clay-rich earth and weathered stone, under the theme “Foundations”. It is PPG's pick for its architectural brands across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia — separate from Glidden's Artifact.
Swatch shows Fawn #D1B0A7 — the closest colour in this archive, not PPG's paint. No hex has been published for Country Soil yet.
-
WGSN + Coloro · announced 2 June 2025
Luminous Blue
Luminous lapis-to-cobalt blue
The trend forecasters' pick, named well ahead of the paint brands. WGSN compares it to lapis lazuli and to cobalt, the key ingredient of the lithium-ion batteries behind the energy transition.
Swatch shows Deep Lyons Blue #1C4286 — the closest colour in this archive, not WGSN + Coloro's paint. No hex has been published for Luminous Blue yet.

Sherwin-Williams Rewild is a forecast, not a Color of the Year
Worth separating, because it is being reported both ways. On 30 July 2026 Sherwin-Williams introduced Rewild, its 2027 Colormix Trend Forecast: 48 hues organised into three stories — Revive, Reignite and Reconnect. Sherwin-Williams' own announcement describes the forecast as the foundation informing its Color of the Year and Colors of the Month programmes. The single 2027 colour drawn from Rewild was named separately on 15 September 2026: Celery (SW 6421), listed above.
The distinction matters if you are specifying paint: a forecast is a palette to work within, a Color of the Year is one colour to commit to.
Still to come
3 authorities tracked here have not announced a 2027 pick as of . Timing notes below are each brand's historical pattern, not a claim about this year.
- Pantone — Announces in the first week of December, and is the one the rest of the industry reacts to.
- Benjamin Moore — Announced its 2026 pick (Silhouette AF-655) in mid-October 2025.
- Dunn-Edwards — Announced its 2026 pick in the autumn.
What the first nine suggest
On 6 September, with three picks in, this page said all of them were mid-tone and earth-referenced. Six more have landed since, and they widen the picture rather than confirm it. Two families now dominate: soft greens (Behr's mossy olive, Dulux's silvery sage, Sherwin-Williams' light celery) and blues (Valspar's grayed mid-tone, Glidden's smoky aqua, WGSN and Coloro's luminous blue). Warm earth is still there in Dutch Boy's orange, Graham & Brown's clay pink and PPG's Country Soil, a beige-taupe-grey drawn from clay and weathered stone.
What they share is restraint: most are softened, nature-referenced colours rather than clean brights, and two of them (Celery and Soulful Sage) sit at the light end, which the first three did not. Compared with the 2026 set, the move is from browns and warm neutrals toward green and blue. Pantone announces in the first week of December, and that is the pick the rest of the industry tends to be measured against.
Common questions
- What is the 2027 Color of the Year?
- There is no single one. Each authority names its own. As of 1 October 2026 nine have been named: Valspar's Cottage Door (8004-38E), a grayed mid-tone blue; Dutch Boy's Deep Rooted, an earthy orange; Behr's Grounded (T27-01), a mossy olive; Graham & Brown's Rose Earth, a dusty clay pink; Dulux's Soulful Sage, a soft silvery green; Glidden's Artifact (PPG10-16), a calm smoky aqua; Sherwin-Williams' Celery (SW 6421), a soft yellow-green; PPG's Country Soil (PPG15-30), a warm beige-taupe-grey; and WGSN and Coloro's Luminous Blue. Pantone — the most-cited of them — announces in the first week of December.
- Is Sherwin-Williams' Rewild the 2027 Color of the Year?
- No. Rewild is Sherwin-Williams' 2027 Colormix Trend Forecast — a 48-hue collection organised into three stories, Revive, Reignite and Reconnect. Sherwin-Williams' own announcement described the forecast as the foundation for its Color of the Year, which was announced separately on 15 September 2026: Celery (SW 6421). Several roundups conflated the two.
- When are the rest of the 2027 colours announced?
- The season runs from roughly late July to early December. Valspar opened it on 5 August 2026 and Pantone traditionally closes it in the first week of December. Graham & Brown, Dulux, Glidden, Sherwin-Williams and PPG followed in September; Benjamin Moore and Dunn-Edwards typically announce in the autumn.
- Why does this page not show the exact paint colour?
- Because publishing a hex we cannot source would be inventing it. Paint colours do not map to a single exact sRGB value, and for most 2027 picks no hex has been published. Each card therefore shows the closest colour in this archive — labelled as that, with its own hex — and links to the brand's page as the authoritative reference.
- What is the emerging 2027 direction?
- Nine picks in, two families dominate: soft greens (Behr's olive, Dulux's silvery sage, Sherwin-Williams' celery) and blues (Valspar's grayed blue, Glidden's smoky aqua, WGSN and Coloro's luminous blue), with warm earth from Dutch Boy's orange, Graham & Brown's clay pink and PPG's beige-taupe Country Soil. Most are softened, nature-referenced colours rather than clean brights. Pantone in December is the one that sets the headline.
