Coastal Color Palettes

Sea blue, bleached linen, and the quiet greys of driftwood.

Coastal color is a specific register of serenity — the particular quality of light that bounces off water, the way salt air bleaches everything slightly pale, the contrast between deep ocean and sun-washed sand. Japanese color tradition has mapped this territory with precision: 'asagi' (浅葱 — the shallow-water blue that names the coast near Kyoto), 'hanada' (縹 — sky-flower blue, the color of the open horizon), 'gofun' (胡粉 — the chalk white of crushed shells), 'mizuiro' (水色 — water color, the palest possible blue). These palettes are reference material for beach-house interior identities, coastal hospitality brands, marine and watersports companies, sustainable fashion, and any project that should carry the uncrowded feeling of open water.
