Farmhouse Color Palettes

Aged wood, warm linen, and the honest palette of natural materials.

Farmhouse color is about material honesty: the warm tan of aged linen, the ochre of earth floors, the ivory of washed cotton, the faded brown of worn wood, the quiet warmth of clay. Wada's 1933 catalog — compiled before synthetic pigments took over Japanese craft — is an archive of exactly these natural material tones. 'Kinari' (生成り) is unbleached, barely-off-white linen. 'Kogecha' (焦茶) is the warm brown of burnt-tea dye, aged to a perfect depth. 'Tobi' (鳶) is the red-brown of old lacquerware. These combinations are the honest palette of a life lived among natural things — reference material for farmhouse interior design, artisan food and beverage brands, homewares and textiles, and any identity that should feel both authentic and enduring.
